Wiking expansion set Fendt 828 winter tires
The Fendt 828 with article number 077345 came onto the market last April. A successful model that fits perfectly into the Wiking range. But the most striking thing was the option to change the tyres.
This has opened a whole new chapter in the never-ending battle between Ertl, Universal Hobbies, Weise Toys, Wiking and a few other manufacturers of precision models.
Almost every year, new techniques are developed to outdo the competition.
For example, in 2005, Manfred Weise had urged Siku to make tinted glass.
Later, he and Siku came up with a technical solution to make the mudguards of a Massey Ferguson matt black. The first models were blackened in series with a thick felt-tip pen by interns! A template was used to get the lines neat.
Of course, this was done by machine after a few months. Later, the details of the front linkage were improved so that tools could be mounted on it and Wiking was one of the first to come with hinged doors, a rear window and a roof hatch.
Now it's the turn of the tyres and I've actually been waiting for this to become optional for some time.
You have different types of tyres and that also makes it possible to make the tractors quite different.
What about cage wheels, double mounting or cultural tyres?
Each of these makes a completely different tractor.
As the first of undoubtedly a whole segment of tyre types, Wiking is now coming with a tyre set with snow chains.
This will not be used in the Netherlands that quickly, but in regions in Germany where there are many mountains or hills, this is very common when there is snow.
The set will be available in stores from February 2016 for around 30 Euros and will have the article code 077391.
