Siku 1943 Review Volkner Performance Camper with Wiesmann GT
When Siku announced this model in 2014, it was indeed in the flyers and catalogues. Later in the year it turned out that Siku could no longer deliver about 7 models on time that year. Remarkable? No, not anymore. As I wrote in my blog before, it has almost become a tradition for about 5 years that some models are no longer released in the same year as they are announced. My humble opinion is that this may be due to the outsourcing of production to China? In itself nothing wrong with it, it just makes it more exciting whether and when you can get hold of a certain model. For example, last year the John Deere Gator was available for a very short time at the beginning of the year. After that it took until the autumn for these beautiful models to be replenished on the shelves. Fortunately, it was last January that Siku finally started delivering the 7 models mentioned that did not make it to 2014. Many customers had already emailed and asked where that beautiful camper was. From that we already noticed that there was a lot of demand for it. To be honest, that surprised me, since the older campers from Siku were almost all very average and not exciting versions, except for the Hymer (art. 1934) Camper? It's just like a bus, the model is a huge thing for its price range! When you see the packaging, with the model still in it, you look at a blue block and you don't expect the model to be really beautiful! So immediately after unpacking it is noticeable that the details on the front and back are really well done.
If you continue to investigate what else is on and on the model, then the well-known satellite dish is funny, it can rotate and fold up. Some doors can be opened, and the roof can be removed to show the interior. Which is funny, but Siku is known for the fact that an interior always consists of one color, so that is a bit disappointing, but oh well... the gadget factor is fun.... I am a person who never takes the trouble to look at a manual or packaging. So also here, and when taking pictures I noticed that there was a slot on one side and that it looked like a hatch or flap could open somewhere. After some prying I saw that the left side could slide out! Really a wow factor! Very nice, and a real surprise.
But the highlight is of course the "garage" at the bottom of the camper. The Wiesmann GT is hidden in there. Unfortunately not in a new color. :-( Conclusion You can see that Siku has really been working hard in recent years to develop a model properly. This camper also exudes a lot of quality. And that's impressive, let's face it, a camper is not really an exciting object on the road. Many options that are also functional make this a real asset to the range. Great value for money!
