SIKUracing, ferngesteuerte Rennstrecke von Siku
When the latest additions from Siku were presented at the Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg in early 2013, everyone was surprised.
The stand had a small circuit with funny cars on it.
Was this real? Was there a new scale in the Siku brand, which had not been consistent with the scale for years?
An attempt had been made earlier to offer some miniatures in 1:43, but that did not go further than two models in two colours each! The Mercedes 500SEL and the Volkswagen Beetle convertible.
Only when you got closer did you see that there was more than just a scale model on that track.
A completely new chapter had been added to the long history of Siku.
Why special?
Very simple, firstly it is in a scale that Siku was unfamiliar with until now, but also because the brand had been experimenting for years with the Control32 remote-controlled tractors and tools, but also the well-known trucks and trailers in the scale 1 to 32. It has been quite quiet in this area lately and with that the sales figures also went down in this segment of Siku. Only afterwards it turned out that they were probably already busy developing the race track, a masterstroke!
Scale 1 to 43, a start of a new scale for Siku?
I don't think so. Why not? Simply because this scale is not a toy scale to begin with. Secondly, this scale size is also very difficult. There is a lot of supply, you can't make the same model for years like in the current 3-inch scale. But also it is simply not interesting for Siku in terms of price. But you never know with Siku, they have often made very surprising steps, sometimes successful, sometimes flopped. But anyway, they try!
What is the current status of the range?
In 2013, a starter set was announced. This was later supplemented with separate track pieces and extra cars with charger and controller. An overview can be seen below. Everything is for sale at your Siku supplier: Sikumuseum I will soon write more about SIKUracing. While writing, I discovered that this piece would be too long if I also describe all the details. So we will have to wait and see. In 2013, I never thought that I would be so enthusiastic about that race track myself! Okay, it has a hefty price tag, but I have to say that this is also quite justified... Where it all started in 2013, the starter set (6810)
The individual expansion sets with car, charger and battery (6820, 6821, 6822, 6823, 6824 and 6825):
