March 2017 Siku novelties

We have already discussed many of the new models in recent months. And it is not really a surprise, because Siku comes up with a number of novelties on the market four times a year, often to replace older models. Every now and then there is a surprise from Siku and suddenly there was a limited edition set called 'Set Hard Work'. Edition and reason unknown. It has been given article number 6305.

Siku now also has the Manitou telehandler in the scale 1:50. Previously, telehandlers were already released in the scale 3-inch and 1:32. Following Universal Hobbies, for example, because they had already released a few models in this scale. It is striking that there is no steering, if necessary with a rigid axle, but that would have really made the model complete. Furthermore, it is a fairly heavy model with rubber tires as we are used to from Siku. The three pallets that are included fit nicely and the boom is extendable to a good length. A beautiful cabin with mirrors.

The BMW i8 has finally come to market after a long delay. A beautiful model with many details. Everything is right about this model, and it has put Siku back on the map. The striping on the sills and the prints are just very well done. It is also a very complex model to make because of all the corners and color schemes.

This is probably why Siku has chosen not to place any hinged doors in it because there is very little space for it. The hinge is particularly difficult to place. But actually that does not detract from the model at all. Really another top model!

Finally, the Lamborghini Veneno is also available. We already discussed a prototype in this blog about a year ago. I will write a separate post about it soon to look at the differences. This model is more suitable for the Hot Wheels range (with all due respect!). I also mentioned earlier in this blog that the headlights disappear in the wrongly chosen paint. It would have been nicer if the color had been red or yellow. As Lamborghinis often are. Unfortunately, the toy content is obvious and it is not exciting enough for an adult collector in general.

Last but not least, a very strange one. The Argo Avenger 8x8... yeah... what can you say... very strange.

With its 8 plastic wheels it is a very striking appearance. But it falls a bit outside the Siku range in terms of dimensions. Sure, it has play value, absolutely! And honestly I think the model was made to be released in a set, like a 4x4 with trailer and this model on it. Otherwise I can't explain why Siku is considering releasing this. Time will tell.
