Siku and TUI cruise ships Mein Schiff 1 to 4
A brief overview of the four TUI cruise ships currently in use. Although the TUI advertising models are completely identical to the standard models from Siku, it is interesting to take a closer look at them. This is the first in a series of reviews about the growing line of cruise ships that Siku has released and will release. Last week I received the 4 TUI models so that they could be photographed properly.
Mein Schiff 1 and 2
Commissioned by TUI, Siku has made a nice souvenir of these ships for passengers and interested parties in a scale of 1:1400. These models were initially only available in the gift shop on the ships and in the German webshop of TUI. In 2016, the Mein Schiff 1 will be added to the standard assortment at Siku. With article number 1726, it will be added to the assortment next to the Mein Schiff 3. TUI cruises put the Mein Schiff 1 into service in 2009. The ship was built in 1996 under the name MV Galaxy. TUI has changed the colors to the current fresh blue hull with white decks. The same happened with the Mein Schiff 2 in 2011, and this in turn was built in Germany in 1997 under the name MV Mercury. Both have a length of 262.5 meters and a width of 32.2 meters. Draft is 8.5 meters and can accommodate over 1900 passengers with 780 crew members. There are a total of 13 decks!
My Ship 3 and 4
The much larger Mein Schiff 3 and 4 were built especially for TUI Cruises. They came into service in 2014 and 2015 and we have of course known the Mein Schiff 3 for a long time, since it has been in the Siku range for a few years now. These ships are 295 metres long, 35.8 metres wide and have a draft of only 8 metres. The 15-deck ships can accommodate over 2,500 passengers and 1,000 crew members.
In terms of model, the TUI advertising models are no different from the standard models that are in the store, not at all. The difference is in the beautiful larger display box that really gives the model much more appeal. The cardboard is also different in color. Of course, the TUI logo is not missing. What is a pity, is that no information about the ship itself is included. That is exactly the nice extra that you would expect. Given the price difference of about 10 euros between the standard model and the price at TUI, something like this is fairly easy to achieve.
The future... As soon as the Mein Schiff 4 was launched, construction began on the Mein Schiff 5 and in mid-2016 it will be transferred to TUI, then the Mein Schiff 6 (you'll never guess!) will also be built. There is a good chance that these will also be released. Because they are in turn completely identical to the 3 and 4. So that is not really exciting. The advantage for Siku is that they do not have to make new molds. But I think that these models will remain reserved for the TUI webshop. This is not suitable for sale in stores.

Hosting
